East west Cable Tunnel Project (Dec 2012 to April 2013)
- Integral part of the design review team for the East-West cable tunnel project - Interpretation of Geotechnical Instrumentation data and study the effect of construction activity on nearby structures and utilities - Estimate the allowable settlement and recommend mitigation measure if any adverse settlement is expected using Finite Element Modeling
Jurong Cable Tunnel Project (JIPCT)
- Research and development of bedded beam model for tunnel linning design (implemented in the cable tunnel project) - Interpretation and implementation of Horizontal Directional Coring bore logs (total length 4 km; Underwater: 2Kms) - Developing interpretive Geological strata drawings based on the borehole data - Instrumentation Incharge for JIPCT - Review of lab test results and preparation of Geotechnical Interpretative Baseline Report- Design of circular launch shaft using STAAD and PLAXIS 2D - Using SEEPW and PLAXFLOW to calculate the quantity of seepage for Diaphragm walls and also comparing the results obtained from SEEPW and PLAXFLOW to come out with a practical and economical seepage mitigation measure.- Estimate the viability of alternative Earth retaining stability schemes using Advanced Finite Element Modeling (PLAXIS 2D) - Design of Grout Mix piles for improving the shear strength in Reclaimed soil and recommend tests to substantiate the effectiveness of the Ground Improvement Scheme - Develop Instrumentation Layout drawings based on the results obtained from Finite Element Modeling - Review rock bolt, shotcrete and Jet grouting design and work methodology - Monitor the Installation ( approx. 300 instruments; till date) on site (bridges the gap between theoretical assumptions and practical possibilities) - Supervise rock bolting, Shotcrete, Jet grouting and Packer test (permeability test in rock)
- Familiar with Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) operational parameters and monitor the daily operaiton of TBM
Soil Structure Interaction due to Tunneling
- Analyse the current soil structure interaction due to tunneling and predict the impact on critical structures based on the updated soil structure interaction response
Thomson Line (Singapore MRT)
- Design of ERSS (Diaphragm wall) using Finite Element modeling
- Review contractor Soil Investigation logs and ensure that the assumptions in modeling of excavation are conservative
- Liaise with the contractor and update the design and construction methodology based on practical constraints
